The annual Iola Coon Hunt was held at Iola Fire Department. A good time was enjoyed by all. Iola FFA was in charge of the meal. Over three days, steak, hamburgers and fish were served. Food was enjoyed by all. FFA raised a good amount of money for their projects. God bless all that bought and contributed.

Their annual catered awards dinner is Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1962 SH 90 in Anderson. Dinner is free for officers and their families and by donation for the general public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Featured speaker will be State Representative Kyle Kacal, a huge supporter of law enforcement.

Read moreIt’s time for the Central Grimes County, Anderson Volunteer Fire Department, to conduct their annual fund drive. This organization depends greatly on success of the drive. They presently operate nine different fire apparatuses used for various situations and currently have 13 active volunteers that serve our area. Thanks to the generous contributions received last year this organization was able to pay off the note on the pumper truck that was purchased in 2020 and attend more training. All funds collected this year will go towards more training and the purchase of a new booster truck which will help them serve our community better.
