Funeral services for Harold Gene Dudley, 88, were held Friday, Feb. 3, at Evergreen Baptist Church.The service was conducted by Rev. Jeff Morgan. Dudley was born Jan. 23, 1935 and died Jan. 29, at his home. He was the son of Chester E. and Lizzie Fitzgibbons Dudley and was married to Linda Dunlap who preceded him in death. She died in 2020. They were both members of Evergreen Baptist Church. He will be buried beside her at a later date. Do remember their children and other family members in your prayers.
Read moreKnights of Columbus Council #4054 is busy as usual. They held a blood drive and pancake breakfast Sunday at St. Stanislaus. The next blood drive is scheduled for April 16. January’s Knight of the Month was Jarl Renn and the Family of the Month was Blake and Jennifer Scholz. This organization is getting ready for their annual Lenten Fish Frys. The first one will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Plantersville; the next at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Stoneham; and the last one will be held at KC Hall in Anderson. All events begin at 5 p.m. Price of plates will be $15 each and $10 for children under 12.

Knowing her, I decided Classic Rock was the best place to meet for lunch. Boy, was I correct! She owns Finley’s General Store, and the downtown Navasota area was just her cup of tea. Her dad was Jimmy Finley of Iola. Our stop at P Nemir brought laughter and giggles. Michelle and Mary were so informative. I could see those brain waves as she was checking out the merchandise. I got tickled when she said people in Virginia were cheap, meaning people would not pay the prices she saw at various shops in Texas.
