The VFW Post 4006 meeting was canceled because of the possibility of bad weather. I am happy it was. All the destruction in Houston makes me thankful we were safe. I can’t imagine the devastation.

Read moreThere was another bout of bad weather that blew into the area May 16. Around 5–inches of rain fell, and trees came down. One of the trees was at my home my entire life. Two also fell at the home of Mac and Laura McBride and others throughout the area. Charlie Wendt had a tree fall on his truck. Roads were closed from FM 244 south of Carlos. And Highway 30 near Gibbons Creek. As far as I know there was no loss of life.

Read morePlanning a large event can be exhausting but when everything goes good and people have fun, it is all worth it. We celebrated Mrs. Eleonore Feldmann’s 90th birthday Saturday at the White Hall Cotton Gin. It took several days to organize, but we made it. The venue was vacuumed, tables moved and set up, chairs cleaned and moved accordingly, food planned, decorations completed, and we were ready to party.
