Friends of Gerald Max and Virginia Taylor were shocked to learn about their deaths Feb. 8, in Leon County. Their bodies were found in the home by one of their sons. Their funeral was held Feb. 14, at Walter’s Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Larry Andrews officiating. Burial was in the Creek Cemetery. They had three sons, Steve and his wife Diane, Alan and his wife Lynn, and Nick and his wife Ricee. They also had several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ash Wednesday is March 5, and Lent begins. Knights of Columbus Council 4054 will hold their first fish fry Friday, March 7 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Plantersville. Their second fish fry at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Stoneham is Friday, March 21. Both dinners begin at 5 p.m. Plates are $15 each.

It was a good weekend for Grimes County VFW Post 4006. They hosted the third quarterly District 17 meeting. I’m not sure how many people attended, but I appreciate all the people who came. The Katy group arrived on their bus. When we go to meetings I depend on my good friend, Brenda Storey, to be my Uber driver.
