The Grimes County Republican Party held their annual Reagan Dinner at the Grimes County Expo Center Saturday, Feb. 3. The guest speaker was Kenny Webster of the Walton and Johnson talk show. Students from the Iola Young Republicans helped serve food and bus tables.

I spoke to an agent from Entergy the other day and was impressed with him. We talked over an hour about his time in the military, challenges he faced growing up and his interest in computer/cyber technology. As we talked, I forget why I called. Most times I wouldn’t care about techy stuff, but he kept my attention. I was taking notes to share with Chucky about headsets, games and where to buy those items.

Graveside services for Glenda Pell Crenshaw were held in Evergreen Cemetery Friday, Feb. 2, with a good number of family and friends attending. She passed away Jan. 29, at her home in the Keith community. The service was conducted by family friend, Ricky Alderete. Nobles Funeral Chapel of Navasota was in charge of the service.

I remember when I was in elementary, Valentine’s Day was exciting. I would decorate my Valentine’s box and take it to school. Students brought Valentine’s for their friends and put them in each other’s boxes. It was fun to get home that evening and go through all my Valentine’s. When I got older, Valentine’s Day had a different meaning and is much more expensive.
