After feeling overwhelmed with one of my volunteer groups, I decided to take a day off. Paige, Bree and I spent most of Friday doing nothing fantastic, but we enjoyed each other’s company and laughing. Bree introduced me to a new ice cream place where they put the liquid on a cold plate and use what looks like a paint scraper to blend and roll the thin ice cream. This old lady learned something new.
Read moreIt’s a great day to be a Panther, and our volleyball girls are starting their 2021-2022 season off with a bang! The team boasts a total of 11 girls this season, with impressive height and game experience. The girls began the season with an away scrimmage against Mumford Friday, Aug. 6, with a game following Saturday, Aug. 7 against Kennard/Hudson. They play at Madisonville Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 4:30 p.m.
Read moreHooray! The contractor resumed work on the roads in the Blackberry Community. We are all excited to see the work completed. This is the first time we have ever seen it this clean. All tree, bushes, etc. were cleared from the road. Now we aren’t getting scratches on our vehicles.
Read moreYou know those socalled “robo calls” where the name of a person appears on your phone with a number that could possibly be legit? Well, after the Mother Hubbard calls I received and the one that could have been St. Joseph, I tend to block those numbers. Recently, I received two calls from the same number. As I was about to block that number I realized I had a message. The caller was an acquaintance of mine, but the first name was not what I knew. Returning the call was funny - he said he saw my picture in the paper and thought something had happened to me. In reading the column, he finally saw my number and called. The reason I mention this is that now he calls me the “Obituary Lady.”

Read moreI have come to realize that staying busy is a good thing, but at my age staying busy causes issues like not calling your Aunt Norma to wish her a happy birthday. She has always told me that Randy and I need to learn to say no to some of the things that keep us tied up. If it makes any difference, I sent Stephen a text late that night to tell her and I finally called her. So, again, happy 93rd birthday Aunt Norma!
