The annual meeting of the Martins Prairie Church Cemetery Association will be held at Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church Sunday, Sept. 5, beginning at 10:30 a.m. All that have family members buried in the cemetery or have an interest in the Keith community are invited to attend. A variety of business will be discussed and taken care of. The Davis family will give a history of their family and its ties to the community. There will be a covered dish meal served to all present. Do make plans to attend. There was no meeting last year because of COVID-19. Hopefully all will try to attend.

The event is sponsored by the Plantersville-Stoneham 4-H and is free for families in the Plantersville-Stoneham area. All ages are welcome.

The last drawing of this gun raffle will take place Sunday, Aug. 22. Read moreOrphans Friend Masonic Lodge had a full day of activities Saturday, Aug. 7, for the cornerstone dedication at the Grimes County Justice Center in Anderson. The Grand Lodge of Texas and Lodge Officers gathered at the Lodge prior to the ceremony then moved to the dedication site at 10 a.m. Various Grimes County Officials were present. The ceremony was impressive; however, one man passed out from the heat and was transported by ambulance. Following the ceremony, a covered dish meal by local lodge members was served.
