The local food pantry at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall had 75 people come out to receive food including one new person. Food distributed will feed around 208 people. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month. Everyone in need are welcome

Read moreThe Evergreen Baptist Church fish fry and silent auction hosted at the Iola VFD, was successful. There was all sort of baked goods sold in addition to the fish fry. The fish was certainly worth eating. Money raised will help Evergreen children go to camp. Thanks to everyone that assisted and purchased items.
Read moreHope everyone had a wonderful Easter celebration. Our family gathered in Dobbin at my Uncle Darrell Herzog’s home for our traditional feast and Easter Egg Hunt. Thank goodness the weather held off for the kids. They ran wildly from the word “go” to hunt eggs. Nowadays, plastic eggs are the thing, but I remember when only real eggs were used. That awful smell finding an egg that wasn’t found the next time you mowed.
