Read moreLast week my cousin, Cheryl Ketcham, (daughter of Barbara Molitor Phillips) came from Virginia and made sure she could meet with me while here. Knowing her, I decided Classic Rock was the best place to meet for lunch. Boy, was I correct! She owns Finley’s General Store, and the downtown Navasota area was just her cup of tea. Her dad was Jimmy Finley of Iola. Our stop at P Nemir brought laughter and giggles. Michelle and Mary were so informative. I could see those brain waves as she was checking out the merchandise. I got tickled when she said people in Virginia were cheap, meaning people would not pay the prices she saw at various shops in Texas.

Read moreIt has been somewhat of a quiet week, but I didn’t say it wasn’t busy. Recall on my car, oil change, inspection, tags and taxes all hit at one time. Then my little buddy is sick again and I know that happens when children are around other children. There are more forms of illness than when I was growing up. I missed all my school days in first grade, then had perfect attendance the remaining 11 years. Things sure have changed, and Clorox wipes were not even invented way back then.

Their annual catered awards dinner is Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1962 SH 90 in Anderson. Dinner is free for officers and their families and by donation for the general public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Featured speaker will be State Representative Kyle Kacal, a huge supporter of law enforcement.
Read moreThe annual Iola Coon Hunt was held at Iola Fire Department. A good time was enjoyed by all. Iola FFA was in charge of the meal. Over three days, steak, hamburgers and fish were served. Food was enjoyed by all. FFA raised a good amount of money for their projects. God bless all that bought and contributed.
