Wreaths place at Salem Lutheran
My driver’s license had to be renewed. The last time I was at the Brenham DPS was 10 years ago. I took Jordan there for his driving test when he turned 16. Now, you must make an appointment online, sign in online 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time, fill out more paperwork and wait. When called, you must show your birth certificate, social security card, voter’s card, current license but she didn’t want to see my insurance.
I am really concerned with the difficulty caretakers for wheelchair people are faced with. The space in there is so small that they have a difficult time maneuvering the chair. A young man sat beside me as I was trying to complete my forms. The print was so small I held it up to my face and said it was tough getting old. He asked if he could read parts of it for me. That was so nice, but it was just a bit dark in the room.
Saturday, Dec. 16 was Wreaths Across America all over our country. Susan Brak called me Friday so excited that she saw a large group of 18-wheelers in Virginia headed to the Arlington Cemetery for the event. Salem Lutheran placed wreaths on all 38 veteran graves. The Courtney-White Hall 4-H group helped again this year. The confirmation class from Salem, several parents and other adults came out to help. It was good to see daughters of veterans come and assist with the placement on their father’s grave. Ethan placed my dad’s wreath and Chucky placed a wreath for Grandpa Butch. Thanks to all who faced the cold wind to help with this special recognition to veterans.
My daughters surprised me Sunday after church. They took me to lunch for my birthday. We laughed so much and had a good time. I really needed to laugh like that. On my birthday Monday I was treated to Gate 12 for lunch by Sandra Wehmeier Briers and Bib Hancock Kapchinski. The text messages, cards, Facebook greetings and phone calls were wonderful. Thanks to each of you for the happy wishes.
I hope everyone has a safe and merry Christmas to spend time with family. One never knows what the next day will bring so hug your family every time you see them and stay in touch.
