Read moreJohn Williams worked with my dad, Ervin Molitor, at Holsum Foods many years ago. It was a large warehouse type building where Prosperity Bank is located. They made salad dressing, bottled olives and everything had to be done by hand. The salad dressings were made in a huge vat, but the bottles had to be placed on the belt and the product pumped from the vat. Labels were placed on the bottles one at a time by a machine. I worked there two summers to pay for two years of college. Since my dad ran part of the company, I had to learn everything including cleaning the outside of those huge vats.

Read moreThe monthly food pantry was held at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall July 20. It was well attended with around 82 people showing up. Food distributed is enough to feed 233 people. There were several new families receiving assistance. The pantry is open the third Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. Volunteers are appreciated the day of the event and the day before around noon to help set up the pantry.

On the way we stopped in Grandview to meet Don’s uncle Harry Brennen and his cousin and his wife, Foster and Phyllis Brennen, for lunch at R&K Café. It is always good to see Uncle Harry who will be 96 in September. He is still an amazing person.

We didn’t finish the Spider Man puzzle that day, but I may wait until we complete it. I think he enjoys challenging me but at times he does tell me “Good Job”!
