Navasota Garden Club presented its March Yard of the Month award to Joel and Sherry Gillespie for their home at 615 Holland Street. Among the salient features of the landscaping are Peggy Martin Roses climbing the trellis, Snapdragons, Viola Pansies, Blue Salvia and cone flowers in the beds. The manicured lawn includes Magnolia and Red Bud trees.

The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the back-parking lot of the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County will be served and only need to show their driver’s license when they complete the once-a-year Client Assistant Intake form. Going out Saturday sure was fun. It doesn’t take much to make me happy. I got to visit with relatives at the wedding of Jennifer Schroeder and Casey Connor. They were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson. I had never met him, but it didn’t take much to figure out his personality. He fits in with his fun craziness and seems to really care about our Jennifer, which is what matters.
