Read moreAs often as possible, I love to attend Rattler sporting events. A few weeks ago, I attended the boys varsity basketball game and noticed a man I had seen a couple of times before. He was dressed in athletic clothes and appeared to be a coach. I don’t know everyone, so I thought he may very well be one of our coaches. Later during the game, my friend Trisha Harris asked if I knew who he was because she had been wondering and someone else had asked her as well. Those of us who have lived in Navasota for years usually know everyone, so we were all super curious as to who this guy that we didn’t know was! At that point, Trisha’s husband, Jim, heard our conversation and asked if we wanted him to go ask the man who he was. We giggled and then told him yes, please go! We watched as he walked over and spoke with him. Jim later returned with the man in tow and introduced us to Jay Jansen.

Read moreThe monthly food pantry at Iola Missionary Baptist Church in Iola, Jan. 20, was certainly a success. There were 83 people including seven new people that attended. The food distributed will feed around 242 people. Food distributed included frozen meat, fresh vegetables and canned goods. Volunteers from Evergreen Baptist and other churches assisted with setup the day before and distribution the day of. The pantry is open the third Saturday of the month for anyone in need of a helping hand.
