The Bedias community had a serious wildfire outbreak July 19. At least one home was lost along with much of the possessions for a Bedias family. We must be very aware of the present fire danger and diligently watch out for our neighbors. As a side note, one of the responding volunteer fire departments had to stop on the way to suppress a carelessly started grass fire before even getting to the Bedias fire.

Read moreDuring the Evergreen Baptist Church Vacation Bible School that concluded Wednesday, July 20, a special offering was collected each day. The offering is for Zach and Nikki Dehaven and their children Samuel and Hezekiah, who missionaries in Cairo, Egypt. There was a competition between the boys and girls to see who could collect more – the girls won. Last year the boys won. The children raised approximately $600 total. Someone matched the amount which doubled the offering. I am sure the family will make good use of the money. Children at VBS also enjoyed snow cones and a water slide.

Read moreThe Sheriffs’ Association of Texas’ 144th Annual Training Conference and Expo was held Saturday, July 23 -Tuesday, July 26 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth. Over 1,500 were in attendance. There were over 250 exhibits at the Expo where attendees could get familiar with the latest technology and products offered to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Community.

Read moreRobert and Melissa Perez celebrated their 17th anniversary by remarrying Saturday, July 16, at the Keith Community Center. Their four children, Elissa, Robert Jr., Brandon, Marianna and their grandson David Perez each attended. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Philip Flores. Following the event, a meal and wedding cake was served. Approximately 30 attended. May God continue to bless those present.
