Read moreArea family members of Henry Davis were sorry to learn of his death Wednesday, Nov. 9. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Ft. Worth. There was not a funeral service. He is survived by two sons, Henry and Michael, along with other family members. Do remember them all in your prayers. He was the son of the late Joe and Lena Davis.

He apparently became a friend of Houston, as the family history claims Houston spent weeks at a time with the Moore family at Washington on the Brazos. Moore was granted a league of land in Bell County for his San Jacinto service.

The Grimes County Senior Center will hold their annual fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the center, 129 S. Main St. in Anderson. A hot dog lunch including chips, dessert and a drink will be served from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. A one hot dog lunch is $10, and a two hot dog lunch is $12. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $5 for a book of six tickets. Raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. For more information call the center, 936-873-2818.
