Lady Owls complete busy week

Anderson-Shiro split the opening week of volleyball with a 4-4 record.
The Lady Owls began the season on the road against The Round-Top Carmine Cubettes dropping a tight 3-2 decision (23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25--
Junior Taylor Howell had five aces, six kills, 25 assists and 13 digs. Senior Josie Imhoff had 17 kills and 11 digs. Other top performers include: Catie Leman, nine kills, 12 digs; Hannah Abraham, six kills; Lauren Vezurk, 12 assists and Ally White, 15 digs.
Fairfield Tournament
The Lady Owls competed in the Fairfield Tournament Aug. 11 and 13, finishing 3-3. They picked up wins over Corsicana 2-0 (25-19, 25-17), Hearne (25-10, 25-8), Rice (25-17, 25-16) and Wortham (23-- 25, 25-18, 25-23). They had losses against undefeated Fairfield (8-25, 18-25) and West (25-18, 20-25, 21-25). Anderson- Shiro played at Iola and lost to the Lady Bulldogs 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 10-25).
Stat leaders for the latter part of the week included Howell, 13 aces, 31 kills, 91 assists; 33 digs; Imhoff, 16 aces, 59 kills; 36 digs; Leman, 39 kills; 39 digs; Gabby Goudeau, 59 digs; and Abraham, 23 kills.
The Lady Owls played at Normangee Tuesday, Aug. 16 (results were not available by press time). They wil play in the Devine Tournament Aug. 19 and 20, and will host Fayetteville Tuesday, Aug. 23, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
