Lady Bulldogs beat Buffalo, Anderson

Entering the season, Iola Lady Bulldog Volleyball is off to another smashing start. The Lady Bulldogs (7-1) led off the week Tuesday, Aug. 9, with a victory against the Buffalo Lady Bison 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-5).
Fairfield Tournament
Iola traveled to Fairfield’s Varsity Volleyball Tournament Aug. 11 and 13. The Lady Bulldogs were victorious on Thursday with wins over the West Lady Trojans 2-0 (25-19, 25-15), North Zulch Bulldogs (25-5, 25-10), Mexia Black Cats (25-9, 25-10) and Teague Lions (25-7, 25-17).
Continuing the Tournament on Saturday, The Lady Bulldogs secured a win over the Ennis Lions (25-12, 25-16, then lost to the host team, Fairfield Eagles 2-0 (25-27, 18-25).
“Starting our season with a 7-1 record. I’m very proud of the way our young team has stepped up and worked hard. I’m looking forward to a fun and successful season,” stated Iola Head Coach Jamie McDougald.
Taking a break from tournament action, Iola held a home game against Anderson-Shiro Lady Owls, where they took the win 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-10).
Iola, back in play Thursday, Aug. 16, is looking forward to hosting the Bremond Tigers and Burton Panthers beginning at 4 p.m.
