GARLAND — Iola capped their 51-win season with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-9, 17-25, 25-12) win over the Crawford Pirates Nov. 17, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland to earn the 2A State Championship. Iola (51-1) earned their fourth state championship in their 13th state tournament appearance including their second championship win over Crawford (47-7) who have two state titles. The Lady Bulldogs prevailed over the Pirates in 2020.

WICHITA FALLS — An alleged 12-year-old runaway from Wichita Falls was located safely in Navasota Tuesday, Nov. 14. The 12-year-old, Krystelle Ward was reported missing Saturday, Nov. 11. She was last seen in the 1100 block of Harlan Avenue in Wichita Falls. Navasota Police received information from several agencies in reference to a wanted person possibly driving northbound on Texas 6. A detailed description of the vehicle along with the identity of the wanted suspect was released. Kyandrae Chretian, 28, of Missouri City, had two warrants for Aggravated Sexual Assault.

A speeding vehicle led to the arrest of a woman wanted for Smuggling of Persons. Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, a Navasota Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling over 110 miles per hour on Texas 6.

The “Texas Landscape” exhibit of plein air painter, Dina Gregory, closes Sunday, Nov. 26. On display at Baker Goodwin Fine Art, 100 W. Washington Ave. since Oct. 28, Gregory’s work captures the beauty and mystique of the Texas landscape with soft pastels, brights lights and deep darks. Her favorite locations are the Texas Hill Country, Palo Duro Canyon and the Big Bend where she seeks to convey “the connection between God, man and nature.”
