Evergreen Baptist Church fish fry and silent auction April 15 was certainly a success. The event brought out a good number of people from the area. There was lots of good fish with all the trimmings and desserts. Great items were also auctioned. Approximately $8,000 was raised to help youth of Evergreen go to summer camp. Thanks to all that participated in any way.

The Texas Senate unanimously approved a $308 billion two-year budget last week, the Austin American- Statesman reported. The next step is to reconcile that budget with one passed earlier by the Texas House.

Joni and her family surprised me by coming to sunrise service at Salem on Easter. It makes my week great when attending church with my family. I got tickled seeing Bree and Bean coloring with Kohen. At least they were all quiet!
The rain was good for pastures and ponds, but the ruts someone made in my pasture are not welcomed. If it was an accident, I would have appreciated them coming by to tell me and offer to repair the deep holes. However, that did not happen.

The final informational meeting for Proposition A, a $44.5 million bond proposal by Anderson-Shiro CISD, will be held Thursday, April 20, at the American Legion building, 415 Hill Street (behind the Elementary School)beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please attend to get the proper information about the bond. It is something we need desperately as our school district is expected to grow leaps and bounds in the next few years with all the new subdivisions coming in. Early voting is April 24 - May 2 and Election Day is Saturday, May 6. Get out and vote.

Evergreen Baptist Church was filled with an overflow crowd of members and visitors. There were over 100 in attendance. A time of fellowship before the morning worship service included a meal with breakfast tacos, donuts and juice.
