There is a new foundation in Grimes County, The Grimes County True Blue Foundation. Their goal is to help bridge the gap between the community and local law enforcement to raise funds to buy equipment local law enforcement officer’s need to do a better job, but the department does not provide or cover moneywise.

Darrell Hall neighborhood news - Chad Mallett wrote us last week, [We are] “waiting on cost [estimates]. Hope to have that by next week, if not sooner. Once we have that, we can set up an informal meeting with residents to discuss options and viability. If we press forward, we will advertise and set up a public hearing. We can then bring [the proposal] before Commissioner’s Court for approval and have the residents vote.”

You all know the old saying “No news is good news” – well not necessarily anymore. No news is bad news! It’s hard on reporters when there is nothing going on and most events that normally would be happening have been cancelled. Every July Don and I attend the Sheriff’s Association of Texas’ Annual Conference. This July it was to be held in Fort Worth, but two weeks ago the conference was cancelled. Ugh! That was usually our annual vacation for the two of us. I have to do something or I’m going to go crazy! So please, if you have any kind of news from your family like vacations you took, accomplishments or special bits of news, call and let me know. This job is getting harder by the day!
