Read moreDear Publisher, Grimes County values are under attack from economic interests who view our ranches and family homesteads with dollar signs in their eyes. It is a relentless assault from every direction. Internationally owned solar farms which destroy the green pastures of Grimes County and carry the threat of environmental contamination. Construction companies pound our county roads with increased traffic and heavy equipment, leaving roads unsafe and barely navigable. Out of county developers attempting to lower or subvert subdivision standards and maximize profits at the expense of the Grimes County community. It is a time of competing visions for the future of Grimes County. Do we defend our values by establishing standards for development which protect and preserve our community, or do we allow outside economic interests to dictate and determine the future of Grimes County? For me, the answer is obvious and clear.

Read moreNISD School Bond - Dear Publisher, Wow, I wished this happened when I was on the school board years ago! I was on the school board about 13 years from the late 1980s to the early 2000’s. How the time flies! I remember that we had some school bonds that passed and unfortunately, some that failed. i don’t ever remember having a significant bond election that had a zero tax increase!
