Richards High School senior, Cheney Calhoun, signed a National Letter of Intent April 16, to continue her education and rodeo career at Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde. Calhoun is an accomplished roper. Her brother, Tyler, also rodeos for SWTJC. Chesney is an all–around athlete earning multiple all–district awards in volleyball and basketball. She is the daughter of Sylvia and Poppa Calhoun. Read moreThe Navasota High School Band earned Division 1 ratings in marching, concert and sightreading for the first time since the 2020–2021 school year. At the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in Brenham, April 9, the 73–member Rattler Symphonic Band earned a 1–1–2 on stage and 2–1–1 in sightreading. The band will perform a percussion ensemble concert at the NJH Fang Gym, May 1, and the Spring Concert, “A Cinematic Universe” is May 13, at the Brosig Performing Arts Center. Both performances begin at 6:30 p.m.
