Panthers adjusting lineup

This early in the season, Richards High School volleyball coach Caitlyn Kirkpatrick is being flexible with her lineup.

“We’ve been trying to make changes,” the first-year coach said. “We’ve switched up some positions.”

Kirkpatrick has made the changes to better utilize her personnel. She moved senior returnee Brynn Hoffpauir to libero. “We noticed a lot more strength with Brynn as a libero,” she said. “She’s really hustling and digging the ball.”

And she moved junior Makayla Rogers from libero to middle blocker. “She’s shown to be a pretty good blocker,” the coach said. “She’s good at tapping the ball and blocking.”

The team lost 3-1 Aug. 27 to St. Joseph Catholic. “Most of our sets were really close,” she said. “It was a real exciting game.”
