Owl runners compete in Schulenburg
SCHULENBURG-The Anderson-Shiro Owl cross-country team had outstanding finishes in the Schulenburg cross-country meet Thursday, Aug. 29.
Alex Flores finished sixth out of 85 runners completing the course with a time of 18:07. Karter Ellis finished just a tad slower in 11th place with a time of 18:30.
Jarod Thane had a respectable time of 19:36 and a 23rd place finish.
The varsity girls were paced by Fabiola Hernandez, clocking a time of 14:43, for a 19th place finish out of 94 competitors.
Junior varsity
The JV girls had two top runners, Shelbi Belinowski and Emily Kirsch finishing ninth and 10th respectively with times of 16:36 and 16:37.
Eddie Olguin completed the course with a time of 13:16 to finish eighth for the JV boys. Zachary Haynes and Eric Hernandez finished 11th and 12th with times of 13:45 and 13:53. Jonothan Ritchie finished 20th, 14:35.
Junior high
Girls
Katie Puryear fourth, 14:35, Zoey Hayes 22nd, Kaleigh Kirsch 24th, Rachel Nguyen 25th, Morgan Hall 29th, Riley Hamlin 31st, Jasmin Moreno 32nd and Kathryn Conn 34th.
Boys
Geraldo Olguin 10th, 14:36, Thomas Beaston 12th, Travis Whittle 17th, Hayden Theriot 20th, Ethan Theriot 22nd and Brandon Mayen 24th.
The Owl cross-country team competed at the Sam Houston Regional Preview Saturday, Sept. 7. Results were not available at press time. Anderson-Shiro will compete in Navasota Wednesday, Sept. 11.
