A/S Education Foundation fund raiser Saturday

Winner number seven of the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, Oct.10. The winner of a Glock, G17. Gen 4. 9mm is Travis Pasket of Montgomery. The next drawing will take place Sunday, Oct. 17.

Thanks to each and every one who came out and supported the St. Stanislaus Bazaar Sunday for another successful day. The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Oct. 14 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Grimes County Expo Center in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County in need of food will be served and will only need to show their drivers’ license when they complete the once a year Client Assistant Intake Form. October 2021 is the Public Square Rosary Crusade’s 104th anniversary. The Holy Rosary will be recited at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 16 at noon. For more information, contact Joe Vitanza, 713-504- 8183.

The Anderson-Shiro Education Foundation will hold their annual Steak Dinner and Auction fundraiser Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at the St. Stanislaus Parish Hall, 1511 TX Hwy. 90 in Anderson. Tickets are $60 per person or a table of six for $400. The mission of the foundation is to provide opportunities for excellence, promote innovation in teaching, inspire learning and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students. Tax dollars support mandated education, but The Foundation funding enhances the educational system, making it possible to offer our students the highest quality educational opportunities and experiences. It also supports activities not funded by tax revenue through a process developed and overseen by a volunteer committee, representing business, community and educational leaders. This week has been a very challenging one in the Sowell household as well as many more households as 125-150 people searched night and day for 3-year-old Christopher Rameriz of Plantersville for three days. When Saturday morning came things still looked hopeless for the rescue of this little guy. Then a call came in around 11:15 a.m. that changed the whole course of the day. He was found a little over 4 miles from his home. And the rest is history! Words cannot express the admiration for all the law enforcement officers and agencies (state and local), fire departments, the team of Tim Miller and Texas Equusearch, and so, so many more that spent endless hours in the search. They all worked together in an organized form to get the word out about the situation. Grimes County made not only local and state news but national as well. Congratulations to each and every one and especially to my wonderful husband – our Sheriff Don Sowell who would not give up until Christopher was found. Thank you all for your service.
