Buddy Poppy distribution May 29
I have more good news! At Thursday night’s VFW Auxiliary meeting, we gained a new life member. With our membership dwindling, this is fantastic news. If you are interested in possibly becoming a member of this group please don’t hesitate to call, text or email me. My contact information is at the end of this column.
Election of officers for the upcoming year, 2022-2023, were also held Thursday. Most of our officers remained the same with a few additions and changes. Our new member was eager to accept an office also.
This week I needed to meet one of our auxiliary members, Maxine, to sign a check, so we met at the White Hall Store. I don’t think Maxine knew how many people she would meet that day. She met Mayor Charlie who was very friendly explaining about a French fry. I know he loves his fries, but I didn’t quite understand what he was trying to say. It turns out he had dropped a French fry on the floor board of the truck. Both of us got so tickled at him. Mayor Charlie now has a pony and his birthday is April 29 and will turn two.
Have you purchased any products from CLICK DEALS? If you have, I sure hope you have had better luck than I have. They advertise guaranteed full refunds but that is false. You see, if you open the packaging of the product, they scam you out of 15% of the price for restocking and you do not get the actual postage price returned and, in addition, you have to pay to send it back. Their comment to “how can a buyer check to see if the product works” and basically the response is “that is our policy!” Reasoning with these people is what my grandson would say, “that’s a hard negative”! Thanks for letting me vent regarding this issue. Oh, and these discrepancies to their advertising were not on their website for the product I purchased.
Memorial Day is May 31. This day is a federal holiday to commemorate all the men and women who have died while serving in the military. Grimes VFW Auxiliary Post 4006 will be passing out Buddy Poppies Saturday, May 29, at several locations in Navasota.
Ms. Pauline Kaspar is feeling much better and she is getting excited about returning to the domino game. I do believe her tiny competitive nature has returned! Margaret Finke returned home. This is good news because I know that home is so much better than hospital rooms.
Please continue to keep our sick and homebound friends on your prayer list. These friends include Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Lois Bell, Pauline Kaspar, Jean Fleischhauer, Lynette Frenzel, Delores Mitschke, Wayne Feldmann, Margaret Finke and Alexander Hanna.
