Annual Birthday Bash April 22
April Fool’s Day was Saturday, the day of our BBQ sandwich sales. The day started early with presales. We had a few rough spots throughout, but they ended quickly. We sold all the meat the firemen cooked. Thank everyone for making this fundraiser the best we have had in months.
My little man and I went to church Sunday, an experience in itself. Pastor handed us palm branches which led to Kohen walking to a few members of the church giving them his, taking their branches and then getting his back. Knuckle bumps were another fun thing for him. My friend Sandra sat in the same bench and I know she just loves him, until he tried to color with a red color on her off-white slacks. The look on her face was too funny! He ended up going to Jim Britt and Jim had to put him in his car seat to go home. That little stinker held onto the red color and when I noticed it, he had already bit off the pointed part. He thought that it was funny!
The monthly business meeting for the WHCVFD was exciting. We gained another new member, Clayton Mendez, and a prospective member, Crystal Cox. Due to popular demand, the original pork butt is being brought back to the BBQ pit. We will also add potato salad to our menu. One-pound containers of Texas Kitchen mustard potato salad available for purchase.
Sarah Vickers and her baby are facing a serious medical condition and they need our prayers. She was flown to St. David’s Hospital in Austin. Within 24 hours, Sarah was in three different hospitals. Sarah birthed Baby Owen. She is doing good and Owen is doing the best possible. Please keep them in your prayers.
Chief Vickers had a medical procedure also. Kimberly Weiser and baby Elijah also need prayers. You may have seen a video on Channel 3 this week about the Weiser family and how the entire town of Huntsville and Sam Houston State students have made it their purpose to pray 24 hours straight for this family as they await the birth. Ken and Bonnie Cox of White Hall are Kimberly’s parents. This little unborn baby has affected so many families already.
April 22 is the annual birthday bash at White Hall Community Center including a car show and BBQ chicken plates. There is also a gun raffle. Tickets are available at White Hall Store. Entry for car show is $10 and gate opens at 10 a.m. BBQ plates are $15, and half chickens are $8. Hope to see you there.
White Hall Icehouse and Café is hosting a BBQ cookoff April 29-30. Entry fee is $200 per team. Categories include brisket and beans and judging is Sunday. A portion of the proceeds benefit White Hall Community VFD and White Hall Community Center.
Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer list. These friends include Jean Fleischhauer, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Kimberly Weiser, Bib Kapchinski, Delores Mitschke, Charlotte Serres, Loyd Finke, Mark Shimshack and Betty Feldmann.
