Dr. Marilynn Marie Leathart, a renowned accounting scholar and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on April 9, 2023, at the age of 78. She is survived by her daughter Brandilynn Collins Garrison (Micah), son Larin Collins, and grandsons Micah Jr., Jonah, Isaiah, and Jeremiah, as well as her siblings Madelaine Jackson and Harvey Leathart.

Mary Knowles (Stewart) O’Keefe grew up in the little town of Navasota, Texas. Her favorite coffee mug stated, “Navasota- it’s where my story began,” and for her it began on Wednesday, October 24, 1934. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1953. Mary followed her brother to SMU in Dallas and graduated with a degree in Speech and Hearing.

Vicki Ruth Wilson, a beloved member of her community, passed away on April 11, 2023, at the age of 74. She was married to Dennis Wilson and had two sons, Phillip Davis and Mark Davis.
Vicki was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 7, 1949 to the late Reverend Raymond Drews and Trixie Drews of Navasota, Texas. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1967, and then went on to study at Houston Baptist College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. Vicki continued her education and received her Master’s degree in 1988 from the University of Mississippi.

Funeral services for Esther Lee Bowen Young, 75, of Katy, TX and formerly of Richards, TX were held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Richards, with Rev. L. Dunbar officiating.
Esther passed April 8, 2023, at Choice Hospice, Houston following a brief illness. She was born April 19, 1947, to the parentage of Theory and Sallie Fair Green Bowen of Grimes County, TX. She was a lifelong member of Robinson Hill Bapt. Church, of the Pineywoods (Richards) area, serving with the Women’s Ministry and Bible Study, the church choir, and the Usher Board. She attended community schools., graduating from Richards High, class of 1967, and furthered her education at Mary Allen College, Crockett, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Mr. Ricky David Klawinsky, 63, of Richards, TX, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Perry Espinosa officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Ricky was born in Navasota, TX, on October 22, 1959, to Joe and Mae Pearl (Bundrich) Klawinsky. He attended Richards School District and later graduated from Richards High School.

Oliver Wayne Rucker, 84 of Anderson, died Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023, at Bluebonnet Place in College Station.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Funeral services took place 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Frist Baptist Church of Navasota with Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Masonic graveside services followed in Oakland Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, May 6, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Windrow Events, 14648 Hwy 105, in Plantersville. Dinner was served at 4:00 p.m. His wishes were for all his family and friends to attend and celebrate the great life he had.
