Poinsettia, Euphorbia pulcherrima, is a striking plant with its green leaves, red bracts and small yellow flowers. It is a traditional winter holiday decoration found in many homes and businesses. After the holidays, one of your decisions might be what to do with your poinsettia as it ages and browns. Many people discard it. Some compost it and some prepare for its reuse as next year’s holiday decoration. Whichever you choose, be careful when you handle the plant. Poinsettia’s white sap irritates the skin of some people.

Anderson–Shiro CISD competed at the UIL State Robotics Competition Dec. 5–7. The junior high team won first place in the rookie league of District 23–3A Zone 1. The robotics team earned Rookie of the Year.

Men Making Moves held their annual bike and scooter giveaway Dec. 21, at the Navasota High School parking lot. Over 500 bicycles, 500 electric scooter and 250 door prizes were given away. There were also corn dogs provided by Sonic, games and more.
