If you haven’t been able to follow the Richards Panthers in their most recent competitions, you are missing a great season for our athletes. The boys’ basketball team took the win over Centerville/Groveton. In cross country the RISD boys took fifth place in Regionals, traveling from Richards to Corpus Christi to compete. Although out of school due to COVID issues, the Panthers have not let that slow them down!

William Charles “Charlie” McMillan, the youngest mayor in America, was unanimously re-elected to a second term Saturday, Nov. 7, in a ceremony at the Whitehall Community Volunteer Fire Department during their monthly barbecue fundraiser. McMillan, who is 18 months-old, ran unopposed. A last-minute entrant to the race, 10-year-old Colton Vickers, who is the grandson of Fire Chief Freeman Vickers, immediately withdrew his attempt to unseat the incumbent because of insufficient funding.

Grimes County shows 18,128 registered voters this election year. Of those voters, 8,398 opted for early voting. After the general election a total of 12,459 Grimes County residents had made their votes count.
