Friends of Grimes County showed their support for local youth with a $500 donation to Navasota Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa. The organization also donated money to support SWAT training for two Navasota Police Officers. Donations are possible through events hosted by Friends of Grimes County including Bubba Can Cook and the Grimes County Gun Show. The annual reunion for the family of Kenny Watson was held at the Keith Community Center Saturday, Dec. 2, with around 35 family members and guest in attendance. A good time was enjoyed by all. There was a bounce house for the children to have fun on. Everyone had a good time and plans to come back next year.

The following is information about a TxDOT widening project on Highway 105. The TxDOT Bryan District published a webpage regarding their plans to widen SH 105 from SH 6 to SH 249 in Grimes County. The widening project is currently planned to begin construction in 2030.

Last Saturday was a great day for White Hall. Approximately 200 people attended the festivities. Planning began when Mark Walz asked me if I would help coordinate a White Hall 150-Year Celebration because he thought this special time should not be overlooked. He invited Pat Dunaway, and I asked Leslie Long and Debbie Addicks to join. With no budget and no bank account, our ideas became reality with the help of many people.

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 will meet Monday, Dec. 4, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting. This is the final meeting of the year. All Masons are invited to attend.

A very large oil painting on fabric is in the Two Rivers Heritage Foundation historical collection. It is unsigned, but significantly characteristic of similar paintings attributed to an artist with the common name of Bettie Brown.
