The Anderson-Shiro Elementary PTO Fall Festival is Friday, Oct. 20, on the elementary school grounds from 5:30-8 p.m. The silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction at 7 p.m. Cash, checks or credit cards will be accepted. There will be a free kid’s zone, booths hayride, cake walk, face painting, pie in the face, dunking booth and more. Food options include Double Dave’s and Chick-Fil-A.
Read moreFriday night lights was fun. Somerville won the trophy defeating Snook in their rivalry game, 20-14, in overtime. Somerville supporters cheered their Yeguas to victory. I know my two grands, Bree and Bean, were exhausted. Bree is a cheerleader and Bean plays offense, defense and center for a special play which I understand is called “tank.” Bean’s coach told me afterwards that they won because I was there. Congratulations to the Yeguas. Homecoming is Friday so stay tuned.

No services are pending, but a memorial service will be held later. Do remember his wife Sue and other family members in your prayers.

The guest speaker was Alec Pointer, who spoke on behalf of Iola School Board. Everyone enjoyed his presentation that included goals for the school year. Following his presentation, a variety of business was discussed and taken care of.
