Evergreen Baptist Church held their Back to School Bash at the church Aug. 21, with a total of 150 people, children and adults. Everyone enjoyed tacos and snow cones and had a wonderful time.

Another week has gone by with school in full swing and football games beginning. I have my Navasota home tickets and my “old lady” card for Somerville home games. Since this is Bean’s senior year, I am going to try to go to all the home games.

Dagan Alford, son of Daryl and Mandi Alford, began an 8–week EMS school at TEEX June 24. He graduated Aug. 29 and will take the National Registry exam in Bryan Sept. 4. Once he passes this test, he will be a certified EMT/EMS. Dagan said this course was the hardest thing he’s ever done. If all goes well, he will start fire school at TEEX in October. Congratulations to this sweet young man.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville will hold their annual Labor Day weekend homecoming bazaar Sunday, Sept. 1 on the parish grounds. A delicious barbecue dinner will be served beginning at 11 a.m. for $15 per plate. There will be something for all to enjoy including a toy booth, fishing pond, train ride, restaurant booth, hunting and fishing booth, country store, grocery booth, plant booth and live and silent auctions.

It was great to meet former coworkers for breakfast. We caught up with family stories and life. One of the ladies pointed her hand downward and asked about the little blonde headed boy I used to have with me. I showed her a photo of Jordan and Walker and she was shocked. There is a story to go with this, but it is too long to share.
