Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Katie Jane “Janie” Norman who passed away Jan. 13. She was born Dec. 23, 1949, to J.P. and Pearl Maxwell Norman. She grew up in the Iola area and graduated from Iola High School. For many years she lived in Houston and later in Friendswood. She is survived by her brothers Jerry Norman and his wife Bobbie, Joe P. Norman and his wife Patty, John M. Norman, sister–in–law Billie Norman and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Venture back in time at the American Legion Post 640 annual fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring the Terry Price Elvis Tribute at the KC Hall in Anderson. The Southern Songbirds will also perform. Advance tickets are $20 or $25 at the door which includes a hamburger meal. There will also be a silent auction and raffles.
