The Grimes County Senior Center (also known as the Sunshine Center) on Main St. in Anderson has been temporarily closed due to COVID-19 and the safety of our senior citizens. A while back the center did open back three days a week for Grab and Go dinners to take home.

Whether big or small, 2020 has impacted us all in one way or another- students are attending classes in various ways, and parents have had to learn how to work around schedule changes, and mask wearing. But 2020 has not been totally wasted.

There will be a fajita dinner for Rebekah “Beka” Chestnutt Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 11 a.m. The event will be held at the Iola Fire Station and funds raised will help with medical expenses as Rebekah’s cancer has returned. There will also be an auction of baked goods and other items. Please come out and assist with this worthy event.
