It’s almost time to renew your cattle brands. All cattle brands in Texas must be renewed beginning Aug. 31, regardless of when it was registered. This also includes horses, sheep, goats, and pigs. Renewal applications will be available online, www.grimescountytexas.gov beginning Aug. 31. Renewal applications won’t be accepted prior to this date. The renewal period is August 31, 2021 to February 28, 2022. During this time, you will be able to send in your renewal application via mail, email, online or in person. Any brand not renewed by March 1, 2022 will become null and void. More detailed information will be sent out in August. If you have any questions, please call the county clerk’s office, 936-873-4410.

Thebeau attended the Texas Free Will Baptist state meeting in Austin. Before returning home to Rolla, Missouri, he and his wife Abbie and their children, Itza, Truman and Dominic, and his mother-in-law Graciela Cura, visited Evergreen Baptist Church. There was a pizza party held for them with several attending to visit with the family. It was good to see them.

County fairs continue to solidify the fact that the way of the west never dies.
Read moreLast Saturday the Grimes VFW Post 4006 and Auxiliary distributed Buddy Poppies at different places in the county. I want to personally thank all the people who stopped at our tables and accepted a poppy and to those who graciously made donations to the Relief Fund. Several people indicated they had not seen poppies since they were very young. These monies are used strictly for veterans and families in need.
