The 2025 Grimes County Fair Queen, Haylee Burzynski, was crowned May 31, during the rodeo by 2024 Fair Queen, Cyleigh Mancuso. Haylee is the daughter of Blake and Stephanie Burzynski. First runner up was Grace Benton, daughter of Carter and Dr. Jaime Benton and second runner-up was Jillian Wisnoski, daughter of Stephen and Meg Wisnoski. All three young ladies attend Anderson-Shiro High School.

Read moreThe monthly food distribution at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, May 17, was well attended. There were 84 people that showed up for food, including five new people. Food distributed will feed 217 people. All sorts of food was distributed including canned goods, eggs, frozen goods, fresh vegetables, milk and more. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month. Workers help set up the pantry the day before. Evergreen Baptist Church assisted. All assistance is welcomed and appreciated.
