St. Mary’s gigantic annual Rummage Sale is Saturday, Nov. 5 from 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. on the church grounds, 8227 CR 205 in Plantersville. Early Bird Shoppers can shop from 7-9 a.m. for a $5 cash admission fee. There is no charge to enter after 9 a.m. There will be bargains galore and something for everyone. Over 1,000 families have contributed items to this sale. There will be good, clean clothing, shoes and handbags (even designer labels), linens, crafts, appliances, kitchenware, knick-knacks, Christmas décor, furniture, electronics, toys, sporting goods, books, home décor, collectibles, jewelry, china, crystal, silver and much more. You won’t want to miss it. Food and soft drinks will be available at the concession stand. Cash, local checks and credit cards will be accepted. Calling all Veterans! Anderson-Shiro Jr. - Sr. High School will host their annual Veterans Day Breakfast in the cafeteria Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 a.m. A Veterans Day program will take place immediately following the breakfast beginning at 10 a.m. in the gym.
Please consider buying a raffle ticket or more for the Darren Cosby Benefit. Darren was a long-time Ag teacher at Anderson-Shiro High School. Proceeds from the raffle will help cover medical costs his family has incurred in the recent past. There are 24 great prizes at $20 per ticket. The drawing will be held on Nov. 11 and you do not have to be present to win. For raffle tickets or more information, contact Kari Lynn Eisenman, 936-825-5311.
Grimes County Senior Center will hold their annual fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the center, 129 S. Main St. in Anderson. A hot dog lunch including chips, dessert and a drink will be served from 11 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. A one hot dog lunch will be $10, and a two hot dog lunch will be $12. There will also be a silent auction as well as raffle tickets for sale for $5 for a book of six tickets. Raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. For more information call the center, 936-873-2818.
Congratulations to these two brothers, Kendel and Kanin Cleere, who are the sons of Dr. Jason and Kristi Cleere of Madisonville. Kendel won Grand Champion with his Shorthorn heifer and Kanin had two second place Shorthorn heifers in the class at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas recently. Kendel and Kanin’s grandparents are Randy and Cathy Cleere of Anderson.
