140th Anniversary at Zion Lutheran Sunday
The St. Stanislaus Bazaar was a huge success with a record-breaking crowd. The day was picture perfect. Thanks to all who volunteered in various ways, made desserts, worked booths, attended and supported this parish in any way. The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Oct. 13 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the back-parking lot of the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County will be served and will only need to show their driver’s license when they complete the once-a-year Client Assistant Intake form. Every weekend throughout October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Fanthorp Inn State Park, 579 S. Main St., will be commemorating the 155th anniversary of Henry and Rachel Fanthorp’s passing. Come explore the unique and peculiar ways Victorian families mourned the loss of a loved one. Due to the macabre nature of the subject matter, this program may not be suitable for children under 10.
On Saturday, Oct. 29 only, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., take a ride through history and experience what travel in early Texas was truly like on the Inn’s replica stagecoach. Admission is free but the suggested donation for adults is $4 ($10 with coach ride) and for children is $2 ($5 with coach ride). Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson will celebrate its 140th Anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 16. Worship service begins at 10 a.m. followed by a meal (free-will offering) and a short program on the history of the church. Perfect day for historian lovers!
