Workforce Training Returns to Navasota
THROUGH BLINN COLLEGE’S “INDUSTRIAL BOOTCAMP” SESSIONS
Special to The Examiner
Blinn College has once again joined forces with the City of Navasota, Grimes County, the Chamber of Commerce, and Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley to provide local workforce training in Grimes County.
“Our local business and industry are helping to power our strong local economy, but many job openings need to be filled to continue that momentum. I am proud that we are partnering with Blinn College in this effort to provide training and skills development to help our local workforce and businesses succeed,” said Mayor Bert Miller. “The groups that are partnering here are intent on assisting individuals to get on a path to a good-paying local job and, ultimately, contribute to our vibrant business climate.”
The “Industrial Bootcamp” training is an intense, 10-day training program that begins on October 24 at the Navasota Center. Classes are open to anyone 18 years or older. These classes provide exposure to basic elements of industrial employment. Participants will learn skills in Basic Safety (OSHA10), Technical Math, Customer Service, Resume Writing and Interview Skills, among other topics.
The program cost is $500 per attendee. Onetime grants up to $450 may be offered to help cover the cost of the class. Upon completion of the classes, attendees will receive a Blinn College certificate of completion and will be encouraged to apply for one of the many job openings in and around Grimes County.
