Snook Bluejays fly past loia Bulldogs
Iola suited up for the first time under new head coach, Bo Barrow, but the Bulldogs were unable to find the endzone in a 12-0 loss to the Snook Bluejays Friday, Aug. 26, at Bulldog Stadium. Snook scored once on the ground and once through the air, with Lance Lara flying across the goal line both times. Lara finished with 101 yards on 15 carries and had three catches for 74 yards and an interception.
Despite their shortcomings offensively, Barrow credited his defense. “Defense played extremely well,” he said. Barrow plans to work on execution, “We are right there, but we still have a long way to go.”
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Kyler Dreher with 11 carries for 51 yards.
Iola (0-1) sets its sights toward Normangee (0-1) where they will face the Panthers, who are coming off a 53-0 loss to Bremond. The game is set for Friday, Sept. 2, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
