Lady Rattlers start strong
Navasota Lady Rattler Softball is off to a fast start in District 24-4A winning the opening two games of district competition.
Navasota’s lady sluggers took the lead late against the Sealy Lady Tigers Monday, March 14, to edge out a 10-9 win. The Lady Rattlers capitalized on an error in the top of the sixth-inning to gain the lead.
Navasota outhit Sealy 13-8 with five Lady Rattlers recording two hits each. Hailey Garcia, Mia Nunez, Trinity Loukanis, Bella Dobijanski and Lexi Nobles each had two hits. Navasota hit four doubles with one each from Loukanis, Nunez, Garcia and Callan Katkoski.
Loukanis pitched the distance going 7-innings. She allowed four earned runs on eight hits including six strikeouts and four walks.
The Rattlers picked up their second win in as many days with a run rule over the Royal Lady Falcons, 15-0. Freshman Evelyn Ibanez allowed one-hit over three-innings during the shortened game. She struck out two batters and allowed one walk.
Nunez led Navasota going 3-3 with four RBIs including a homerun and a double. Other players recording multiple hits were Loukanis 2-3, and Jenna Strode 2-3.
The Lady Rattlers play at Bellville Tuesday, March 22, beginning at 6 p.m.
