JACOB DIEHL
1949 – 2021
Jacob Louis Diehl, 72, of Plantersville, died Saturday evening, May 15, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205 @ FM 1774, in Plantersville. A parish rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May19, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in St. Mary Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russel Hasselmeier, Gregory Cicherski, Makael Hasselmeier, Stephen Cicherski, Ryan Hasselmeier and Richard Atkinson. Named as honorary pallbearers are John Kolodczak, Charles Yorek, Rodney Yorek, Alfred Diehl, Martin Diehl and Philip Diehl.
Jacob was born March 29, 1949 in Navasota to Jack and Ruby Theresa Tomkivits Diehl. A resident of Grimes County all his life, Jacob was an active and dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. It was on June 1, 1974 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston that he married the love of his life, Beatrice Jozwiak.
Jacob retired after 25 years of service as a ranch hand for Lawridge Farm in Navasota. A die-hard Houston Astros baseball fan, Jacob also enjoyed the outdoors – he always had a bountiful vegetable garden and enjoyed working in the yard. Jacob also enjoyed sitting down to a good game of dominos.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas and Christopher “Christy” Diehl.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Beatrice Diehl of Plantersville; son, Jason Diehl and wife Sheri of Huntsville; daughters, Nancy Hasselmeier and husband Ryan of Montgomery and Laura Cicherski and husband Stephen of Schertz; brothers, Martin “Sonny” Diehl of Houston, Alfred Diehl and wife Becky of Spring and Philip Diehl of Plantersville; sisters, Mary Yorek and husband Charles of Plantersville, Elizabeth Wymola and husband Charles of Round Rock, Frances Canalito and husband Sam of College Station and Theresa Diehl of Plantersville; 10 grandchildren, Natalie, Russel Cathryn, Makael and Makayla Hasselmeier, Victoria, Valerie, Gregory and Angela Cicherski and Elizabeth Diehl; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a great number of friends.
