Baseball season in full swing
Kaleb Wisnoski has been a middle reliever for the Northeast Texas Community College baseball team.
The Navasota High School graduate had a 0-1 record and 4.32 earned run average in six appearances heading into Thursday’s play. His longest outing was two innings, which he had done three times, while his shortest appearance was one-third inning.
The freshman figured middle relief would be his role based on how he pitched during the fall, when he said he tried to sharpen his curve-ball for this spring. Wisnoski also throws a two-seam fastball and changeup.
The left-hander’s toughest outing was his debut, when he allowed six hits and three earned runs in two innings of a no decision. When he has had trouble recording outs, he said he was not locating his fastball.
Since his debut, Wisnoski has been effective. He struck out a season-high four in two hitless, scoreless innings against Pratt. “Just keeping the ball low,” he said about the key to managing hitters.
