ALBIN FINKE

Albin Finke, 95, of White Hall, died Friday morning, February 14, 2020, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, at Salem Lutheran Church, 2373 FM 2988, in White Hall with Pastor Richard Mayerhoff officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in Salem Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Luke Lahrmann, Russell Lahrmann, Will White, Hunter Harrington, Bryant White, Tim Finke and Darian Haferkamp.

Albin was born February 22, 1924 in White Hall to Gus and Minnie Schroeder Finke. A lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, it was there that he was baptized on March 23, 1924 by Pastor L.A. Trinklein and later confirmed by Pastor A. Groeschel on April 10, 1938. Over the years he served the church on numerous boards. He attended school in White Hall and later served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army where he was in the engineering department in the Pacific Theater and obtained the rank of Sergeant. Albin was a member of Navasota V.F.W. Post 4006.

On June 30, 1951 Albin married Clara Eickenhorst at Salem Lutheran Church and to this union, two children were born, Clarence A. and Lisa Finke. A retired farmer and rancher as well as buying and selling real estate, Al-bin served the people of Grimes County for 35 years as a Grimes County Commissioner. It was on November 20, 2004 that he married Debra White.

Albin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara in 2003, his son Clarence, his brothers and sisters and numerous other relatives.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years Debra White Finke of White Hall; his daughter, Lisa Lahrmann and husband Russell and his grandson, Luke Lahrmann all of Industry; sister-in-law Rosa Finke; stepson, Will White and his family; step daughters, D.J. Haferkamp and Kim Smith and their families, along with other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has requested memorials in Albin’s name to Salem Lutheran Church or a favorite charity.
