GC Cookers smoke competition

Feed a child barbeque and they will become barbecue lovers, teach a child to barbeque and they will continue the family tradition of smoking the competition. Young Savannah Downing, age 5, and Sawyer Young, age 7, participated in their first cookoff competition at the “Chili when it’s chili- boot campaign,” Saturday, Feb. 15. Savannah (daughter of Brad and Jenny Downing) and Sawyer’s parents (Joe and Lindsey Young) are part of the Grimes County Cookers cookoff team. Sawyer finished third and Savannah finished seventh in the hotdog cooking contest. The GC Cookers won first and fifth in chili, first and third for jalapeño poppers and second in burgers.
