Mr. Sam B. Wesolick, 67, of Richards, died Thursday morning, January 30, 2020, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

A gathering of family and friends was held from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, in Anderson. A parish rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating Sam’s life was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Elias Lopez as the celebrant. A reception took place in St. Stanislaus Parish Hall. Committal services were private.

Serving as pallbearers were Shawn Profili, Michael Cunningham, Andrew Garcia, Trey Kitkoski, David Carey and Donald Bilnoski. Named as honorary pallbearers were Bill Bay, Joe Corley, Barry Bay, Larry Moriarty, David Pasket, Philip Vezorak, Jake Ketkoski, John Moriarty and William Hill.

Sam was born Saturday, December 6, 1952 in Grimes County to Harold Louis and Martha Annie Pasket Wesolick. He attended school in Richards and was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Sam married Ann Shirley Chamberlain Hirschfelder on September 27, 1980 and was a correction officer for 20 years for TDCJ. Sam was a avid hunter with his hound dogs, especially coyotes. An all-round outdoors man, S am enjoyed ranching and farming as well as deer hunting and fishing. He loved following his grandchildren and friends on their rodeo circuits.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold L. Jr. and Thomas Wesolick and stepson, Stephen Hirschfelder.

Survivors include his wife Ann Wesolick of Richards, his step-children, Robert Profili and wife Michelle of Roans Prairie, William Hirschfelder and wife Lisa of Katy, Kirk Hirschfelder and wife Sharon of Grafton, OH and Sherry Peixoto and husband Jason of New Braunfels; brother, Albert Wesolick of West Sandy; a sister, Josephine Lorenz of Houston; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
