Mrs. Wilma Leiber Schulze, 73, of Anderson, passed away Monday, December 16, at Conroe Regional Hospital in Conroe. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson, with interment following in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey King will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Wilma was born in Navasota on April 11, 1946 to Willie and Esther Marie (Molitor) Leiber. She graduated from Anderson-Shiro High School and attended Sam Houston State University, earning her degree in education. She married Richard Lee Schulze and together they had one child. She taught mathematics on the high school level for the Magnolia school district for several years, eventually moving back to Anderson, where she taught high school math until her retirement.

Wilma truly loved children and enjoyed nothing more than seeing her students succeed. She was a strong advocate for them, not only through education, but enriching their lives as a whole. Whether it was the classroom, or cheering them on at UIL, extra-curricular activities or sports, she was always in their corner. Wilma believed in things being done the right way and in a manner fair to all involved; and she would move heaven and earth to ensure that the right and fair always prevailed.

Worship and servitude was a huge part of her and her family’s life; she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and active in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League (LWML). She enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid deer hunter. Wilma played a mean game of dominoes and could often be found at the senior center in Anderson enjoying a game of 42 with her friends. She loved to travel, although her favorite place to be was always in the presence of her precious grandson Layne, whom she doted on and loved beyond reason.

Wilma is survived by her son, Joseph Schulze of Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law Weyman and Carol Leiber of Cypress and Gerald and Sharion Leiber of Anderson; and grandson, Layne Schulze of Anderson.

Mrs. Schulze was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Esther Leiber and her husband, Richard Lee Schulze.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in her name to Zion Lutheran Church, 455 FM 149 West, Anderson, Texas 77830.
