Congressman Brady warns of pitfalls of “Medicare For All”

U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady spoke to a full house of all ages at the Grimes County Senior Center in Anderson Tuesday, Sept. 3 at an event hosted by the Grimes County Republican Party.

The Republican representative discussed some of the accomplishments of the Trump administration, progress of “live birth” legislation and Medicare For All as well as an issue that will be tackled after the Labor Day break - the Windfall Elimination Provision, of concern to those covered under the Teacher Retirement System.

Brady warned of a looming healthcare battle over Medicare for All which has 177 Democrat co-sponsors. Should Medicare for All pass, it will cancel all private and employer sponsored insurance, Medicare Advantage for seniors, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and Tricare, the healthcare program for uniformed service members, their families and retirees. He estimated 21 million Texans would be affected should it pass.
