Anderson Owl pitches in all star game

Pitcher Garrett Harris started the All-Star Game for the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball.

The Anderson-Shiro High School graduate allowed two hits in two scoreless innings against the Frontier League. The Trois-Rivieres Aigles right-hander was the only one of the 19 pitchers, including nine on the Can-Am squad, to throw two innings. He did not earn a decision in the Can-Am 7-0 loss.

Harris struck out the first batter swinging before allowing a single and retiring the next two hitters.

In the second inning, the 25-year-old allowed a leadoff single. He struck out the next batter swinging, and the runner on first was thrown out trying to advance on the pitch. Harris issued a base on balls after falling behind 3-1 in the count before retiring the next batter.

More baseball

Pitcher Tyler Eppler had a 4-3 record and 2.86 ERA in 16 games for the Orix Buffaloes in the Nippon league in Japan. The right-hander out of Navasota High had three holds.

Dalton Acosta earned his first victory for Yuba-Sutter in the Golden State league. The former Rattler, who plays for University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, got the win by throwing a hitless, scoreless one and one-third innings of relief against Reno. He struck out two. The right-hander had a 1-3 record and 4.74 ERA in 13 games.

Pitcher Josh Mancuso finished with a 1-2 record and 7.50 ERA in five games for Souris Valley in the Expedition League. The Anderson-Shiro product plays for Paris Junior College.

Men’s rodeo

Previously at Anderson-Shiro, Paden Hurst tied for third in bareback riding at the Rodeo of the Ozarks. He collected $2,053.

Foster McCraw of Navasota placed fourth in the first round at the Reno Rodeo Xtreme Bulls competition and earned $1,559.
