Bus Driver Appreciation Week

They were recognized by parents, students, teachers and school administrators. Friday, April 26, the entire Goldstar Transit team enjoyed barbecue hamburgers with all the trimmings, dessert and received caps and certificates of appreciation.

•The Navasota Garden Club and Music Study Club of Navasota will host a joint meeting beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at First Baptist Church Navasota. The Garden Club will have installation of officers at 9:30 a.m. Garden club members are to bring salads and the music study club members will bring desserts. Visitors are welcome.
May 2
•Grimes County VFW Post #4006 will honor the National Day of Prayer with a service led by the Rev. Henry Sanders beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the main hall of the post. The public is invited to the annual observation services.

•The city of Plantersville will hold an election Saturday, May 4, for the positions of mayor and five aldermen.
•Shuck off Cancer Benefit for Marlene White. Craw-fish will be sold to go for $8.99 a pound. Funds raised will go towards medical expenses for Marlene who is beginning her second round of chemotherapy. Orders can be placed in advance by texting 936-870-7931. Location in Navasota to be announced.

•100th Observance of National Music Week. Concert featuring organists, pianists, bassoonist, violinists and chorus. First Presbyterian Church, 302 Nolan Street, Navasota.

•100th Observance of National Music Week. Navasota High School Women’s Chorus will perform at noon, Martin’s Sweet Shop, 302 East Washington Avenue, Navasota.

•The Anderson Senior Center will hold a hot dog lunch fundraiser at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at 129 Main Street in Anderson. A hot dog lunch with all condiments, dessert and a drink is $7. A two hot dog lunch can be purchased for $9.
May 27
•A Memorial Day program will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, May 27, in the main hall of Grimes County VFW Post #4006. The public is invited to join the post members as they remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country and the freedoms it holds dear. Commander Carl Dry hopes to see a full house for the short and meaningful service. There will be small flags available throughout the weekend for those who wish to place a flag on the grave marker of a veteran.
