Sunshine and more sunshine but this old woman is too tired to pull weeds or mow. Hopefully, the “Bad Boy” and I can get back together soon. I don’t like neglecting him.

•So far, the best bluebonnet patch is actually in the cemetery at Salem Lutheran Church. They are so thick in various areas. Actually, on one of the relative’s graves, between the bluebonnets and grass, I could barely see the headstone. I decided to wait to change out the flowers later. Bill Hooks, I even had my bat with me for snakes but decided to walk away.

•Since all the flowers are in bloom, a trip to Whitehall for the fourth annual Birthday Bash would surely be scenic. The invitation is extended to come and join us April 27 for live music, antique cars, motorcycles, bucket raffle items and a great barbecue chicken meal. Hope to see you there. We have sponsorships available and if you are interested, please call me.

For the members of the community center, please reach out and assist with this fundraiser. There are much needed updates and renovations and your support would be appreciated.

•The following information was submitted by Laurie Shine. Have you noticed that there is less trash on the county roads in the Lynn Grove/ Whitehall area? If so, you need to thank the Ramirez family. Heather, teaches her children that everyone must do their part in giving back to their community. So Viktoria, Alisah, Alexandra and Kristian do their part in picking up trash along the roadsides. I, for one, appreciate their hard work in doing this great deed for our community. Hats off to you for doing this!

•The Lynn Grove United Methodist Church will have worship with Holy Communion at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 7, with a special offering and UMCOR Sunday.

There will be a Palm Sunday service at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 14, followed by an Easter egg hunt. The egg hunt is for all children who attend worship service. If you would like to help supply filled eggs, please contact Laurie Shine at 936-870-8094. There possibly could be a surprise visitor making a “hippity hoppity” appearance. Bring your Easter basket or container!

Easter Sunday services will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 21, and services will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 28.

•One of our neighboring communities, Roans Prairie, offers a venue for rental purposes. The building capacity is about 100 people and includes a kitchen, tables and chairs and ample parking. If you are interested in renting their community center, please contact Joanne Floyd at 936-874-2328.

•Salem Sonshine Sisters would like to extend an invitation to anyone who wishes to come and enjoy dominoes with us. We would love to see more smiling faces around the table. For the month of April, we will meet Wednesday, April 17. The invitation is open to everyone.

•Our sick and homebound friends include Sue Kolojaco, Lawrence Lieder, Dorothy Mahaffey, Betty Nigliazzo, Carole Robison, Mary Bauer, Lillian Shimshack, Albin Finke, Charles Waters, Leonard Serres, Richard Shimshack, Lois Bell, Jerri Ripper, Al Ripper, Rickey Binford, Doris Binford, Charles Wellman, Von Herring and Alexander Hanna, grandson of Curtis and Darla Kolojaco. Please add them to your list also.
